The charity NURDOR chess tournament for children, “Next Generation Chess” Open Chess Championship for Youth, was held at the renowned Marriott Hotel “Moxy” (Njegoševa 2, Belgrade) on November 2, 2024. The event was organized by GoPro, in collaboration with our partners (B9 and Data Status), and supported by the Chess Federation of Belgrade with expert assistance from the Nestor Chess Club.

All proceeds from the registration fees were donated to NURDOR for the construction of a parental house.

Some chess community clubs supported this initiative by refraining from organizing children’s tournaments on the scheduled date and encouraged their club members to sign up for the competition. The goal was to gather as many donations as possible and to set an example of support for true values to our children.

At the beginning of the tournament, a minute of silence was observed to honor the victims of the tragedy in Novi Sad.

The tournament was symbolically opened with the first move by Petar Miljković (GoPro, CEO) and Aleksandar Kutanjac, a member of the Serbian chess team that won the gold medal at the European Chess Championship this year.

The children played serious chess games, professionally and with dignity. As far as we’re concerned, everyone was a winner that day.
